Most Weapons Used By Terrorists, Bandits Originally Belonged To Govt – Nuhu Ribadu

The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, revealed that a large number of illegal weapons circulating in Nigeria were originally owned by the Federal Government.

He made this statement on Thursday during an arms destruction event organized by the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW) at the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Abuja.

Ribadu noted that these weapons fell into the hands of non-state actors due to corruption within security agencies.

He criticized security personnel who aid in the distribution of weapons to terrorists, bandits, and other non-state actors.

Ribadu assured that the government is committed to taking all necessary measures to ensure the country’s security.
