On Thursday, October 17, INEC Chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu fixed important dates and procedures for the upcoming election, which will take place at the state’s 5,720 polling units.

Yakubu reminded political party representatives in Abuja that the last governorship election in Anambra State occurred on November 6, 2021. He indicated that the official notice for the upcoming election would be issued on November 13, 2024, in compliance with the 360-day notice requirement.

He also provided a timeline for the electoral process, starting with party primaries scheduled from March 20 to April 10, 2025. Candidates will have until May 12 to submit their nominations, with a final list to be published on June 9.

Campaigning for all candidates will commence on June 11 and end on November 6, just two days before the election.

Yakubu assured that INEC would manage logistical matters, including new voter registrations and the replacement of voter cards.

He mentioned that further details regarding other electoral activities would be shared by the Commission in the coming weeks.

For comprehensive information, Yakubu stated that the full timetable would soon be accessible on INEC’s website and social media channels, ensuring the public is well-informed ahead of the 2025 election.
