Apple Introduces New iPad Mini With Exciting Features
Apple has introduced a new version of the iPad Mini, marking its first major update in over three years. This updated model features a faster A17 Pro chip, increased storage options, and enhanced Apple Intelligence capabilities.
Bob Borchers, Apple’s VP of Worldwide Product Marketing, stated, “There is no other device in the world like iPad mini, cherished for its powerful performance and versatility in our most ultraportable design. iPad mini caters to a diverse user base and is designed for Apple Intelligence, offering intelligent new features that are powerful, personal, and private.”
He further explained, “With the powerful A17 Pro chip, faster connectivity, and support for Apple Pencil Pro, the new iPad mini provides the complete iPad experience in our most portable design at an exceptional value.” The latest Mini is available in new color options, including muted blue and purple. The front camera remains in portrait mode, while the rear features a 12MP wide-angle lens with Smart HDR 4.
The A17 Pro chip, which has also been used in the iPhone 15 Pro series, offers a 30% increase in 6-core CPU performance and a 25% improvement in GPU performance compared to the A15 Bionic chip. Additionally, it includes a faster Neural engine to enhance AI-related features, such as improved Siri responses.
Apple Intelligence, the company’s suite of AI-driven tools, will also benefit from the A17 Pro chip. Apple has been focusing on AI across its products, and the first set of Apple Intelligence features will be available in US English later this month, integrated into iPadOS 18. With the new chip, Apple Intelligence will utilize generative AI models to enhance writing tools, create images from text prompts, and improve task automation.
Storage has been a concern for many iPad Mini users, and the new model addresses this by doubling the base storage to 128GB, with options for 256GB and 512GB available. The device now supports Wi-Fi 6E for faster internet speeds and features an upgraded USB-C port for quicker data transfer rates of up to 10 Gbps.
Additionally, the new iPad Mini is compatible with the Apple Pencil Pro, which includes features like pressure sensitivity, gesture controls, haptic feedback, and a magnetic charging area on the side for convenience.
