Seyi Law Praises Tinubu Over Fuel Subsidy Removal
Nigerian actor and comedian, Oluwaseyitan Aletile, also known as Seyi Low, has praised President Bola Tinubu for the removal of fuel subsidies.
Although the cancellation has caused hardship to many, Seyi Low insists that it will ultimately benefit Nigerians.
He emphasized that the fuel subsidy should have been eliminated much earlier. He noted that if it had been removed in 2012, during the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan—when the former opposition party, led by Tinubu, protested against it—Nigerians would have already been free from that burden.
“The fuel subsidy should have been removed a long time ago. If they had disappeared in 2012, we would have already been through the painful process and would have already bounced back,” he said. “In 2012, I was the only celebrity who took to the stage to protest against fuel subsidies. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala expressed that the country could not afford to pay her salary. “We borrowed money to pay the salaries.”
