1. The death toll from last Tuesday’s fuel tanker explosion in Jigawa State has increased to 167.
Emergency responders and health workers have earlier counted 100 bodies from the incident which occurred in Taura local government area of the state on Tuesday night.
67 persons who were injured in the incident are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals within and outside the state.
The state governor, Umar Namadi, confirmed the latest development when his Kano State counterpart, Abba Kakir-Yusuf, paid him a condolence visit at the Government House in Dutse.
2. The Police Command in Lagos State has confirmed the death of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ijanikin Police Station, CSP Bolaji Olugbenga.
The command Spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday night.
Hundeyin, however, did not give details of the officer and what led to his death.
NAN had earlier gathered that the DPO was said to have slumped in the office and died before he could be rushed to a hospital on Thursday night.
3. Suspected terrorists have launched a violent attack on Dan Auta village, located in Sabuwa local government area of Katsina State, in the early hours of Friday.
The assault, which took place around 2am, resulted in the death of two persons, including a security operative from the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and led to the abduction of 13 others, including women and children.
Among those abducted was the chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the area, identified as Alhaji Imamu.
4. Music superstars Davido and Wizkid have snubbed each other after being spotted at the same nightclub in London.
Videos show Davido already inside when Wizkid arrived with his crew.
Despite being in close proximity, they didn’t exchange pleasantries, with Wizkid leaving shortly after.

This is the third time this will happen in just one week.
The latest collapse occurred early Saturday morning, with many states reporting total blackouts.
DAILY POST obtained data from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org) and it revealed that the grid recorded zero megawatts (MW) as of 9.20am today (19/10/2024.
This latest failure comes on the heels of two other collapses earlier in the week, further straining the already fragile power system.
