1. The Martin Amaewhule-led Rivers State House of Assembly has declared the seats of Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and three other pro-Fubara lawmakers vacant in the wake of their absence from sittings for 152 days.
While making the declaration on Tuesday during plenary, Amaewhule explained that Ehie did not properly write to inform the House of his new office, and as such his seat has been declared vacant.
2. Nigeria’s petroleum marketers are upbeat they will sell Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) cheaper than that of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited if Dangote Refinery begins direct sale of petrol to them.
The spokesperson of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chinedu Ukadike disclosed this in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST on Monday.
Ukadike gave this assurance while giving an update on petroleum marketers’ plans to directly purchase petrol from Dangote Refinery.
3. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has granted private jet owners an additional month to pay import duty on illegally imported aircraft, extending the verification exercise to November 14, 2024.
This move aims to provide operators who have expressed willingness to regularize their import duties with more time to comply with regulations.
According to Abdullahi Maiwada, Customs Spokesperson, “The NCS is committed to ensuring that all illegally imported aircraft meet the legal requirements, thereby promoting transparency and accountability in the aviation sector.”
4. The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Zone C comprising of the South-West and Kwara State, on Monday, faulted the government for remaining silent over the 15-day strike ultimatum issued last week to address some of the issues affecting the polytechnic education in the country.
The leadership of ASUP condemned an alleged undue exercise of oversight function and interference of the National Board for Technical Education with respect to admission of students into the polytechnics in the country.

The Lagos State High Court, on Tuesday, ordered controversial social media activist, Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, to take down what it called defamatory comments and videos on social media about renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, Folarin Falana, popularly called Falz.
Justice M. O. Dawodu, who delivered the ruling in suit no: ID/8584/GCM/2024, ruled that VeryDarkMan’s videos on his social media accounts posted on September 24 linking a crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, a.k.a Bobrisky, to Falz and his father were defamatory and injurious to their public image.
