Lebanon: Israeli Forces Attacks UNIFIL Cameras And Positions

UNIFIL reported that two peacekeepers were injured when an Israeli tank targeted an observation tower at its headquarters in Naqoura, southern Lebanon.

The statement indicated that Israeli soldiers also shot at UN position (UNP) 1-31 in Ras Naqoura, striking the entrance of the bunker where peacekeepers were taking shelter, and causing damage to vehicles and a communications system. Additionally, an Israeli drone was seen flying into the UN position, reaching the bunker entrance.

On Wednesday, UNIFIL stated that Israeli soldiers “intentionally fired at” perimeter-monitoring cameras, rendering them inoperable.

They also reported that Israeli forces deliberately targeted UNP 1-32A, where regular Tripartite meetings took place prior to the conflict, resulting in damage to lighting and a relay station. The statement emphasized that any intentional attack on peacekeepers constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and Security Council Resolution 1701.
