Iran Prohibits Pagers, Walkie-Talkies On Flights

Iran has prohibited the use of pagers and walkie-talkies on all flights, according to local media reports on Saturday. This decision follows recent sabotage attacks in Lebanon that were attributed to Israel, which resulted in numerous fatalities.

The ISNA news agency reported that Jafar Yazerlo, a spokesman for Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation, stated, “The entry of any electronic communication device, except mobile phones, into flight cabins or in non-accompanied cargo, has been banned.”

This ban was implemented more than three weeks after attacks targeting members of the Iran-aligned Hezbollah group in Lebanon, where pagers and walkie-talkies detonated, leading to the deaths of at least 39 individuals and injuring nearly 3,000 others. Iran and Hezbollah have accused Israel of being behind these attacks, which also affected Tehran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani.

Earlier this month, Emirates, a Dubai-based airline, also prohibited pagers and walkie-talkies on its flights.
