‘I Was Promised $10,000’ – Canadian Lady Arrested For Drugs Trafficking
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported the arrest of a 41-year-old Canadian woman, Adrienne Munju, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, for importing a significant amount of ‘Canadian Loud,’ a potent type of synthetic cannabis.
According to the NDLEA, the arrest occurred during the passenger clearance process for a KLM flight arriving from Canada at the Lagos airport’s terminal 1 on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media & Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters in Abuja, shared this information in a statement on Sunday.
Babafemi noted that Adrienne, who was visiting Nigeria for the first time, was discovered to have 74 packages of the illegal substance, totaling 35.20 kilograms, hidden in two of her three bags during a thorough inspection.
In her statement, the suspect revealed that she was recruited to smuggle the drugs through an online platform, with a promise of 10,000 Canadian dollars upon successful delivery in Lagos. Adrienne also mentioned that she accepted the offer to help fund her ongoing master’s degree program in Canada.
