I Have No Apology For Opposing PDP In 2023 Election – Wike

On Tuesday, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated that he does not regret opposing the presidential aspirations of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023. He explained that his decision was based on the party’s abandonment of principles such as fairness, equity, and justice. Although he supported the PDP at the state level, he chose to distance himself from the party during the presidential election.

In an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Wike also clarified that Tony Okocha, the recently removed chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, is not affiliated with him. He noted that while Okocha is a friend, he did not bring him into the APC, especially since they had conflicts during the governorship election.

Wike emphasized, “For the presidential election, I chose to advocate for equity, fairness, and justice, while supporting my party in other elections. This approach contributed to our success in the governorship and National Assembly elections. I stand by my decision to oppose the PDP in the presidential race, as I cannot support injustice or the exclusion of others. I have no apologies to offer anyone.”
