High Court Summons Yahaya Bello Over Alleged Criminal Breach Of Trust

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja has called upon Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, regarding accusations of criminal breach of trust.

Bello, who was previously declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged money laundering, is also charged with possessing property acquired unlawfully.

The summons, issued by Justice Maryann E. Anenih and released to the public on Friday, claims that Bello committed these offenses between 2016 and 2023.

Dated October 3, 2024, the summons states that Bello is accused of violating Section 311 of the Penal Code Law, Cap. 89 of the Laws of Northern Nigeria 1963, which pertains to criminal breach of trust and is punishable under Section 312.

Additionally, the document shared by the anti-graft agency on its official X account indicates that Bello faces charges under Section 319A for allegedly possessing property believed to have been obtained through illegal means.
