Hezbollah Deadliest Drone Attack On Israeli Army Base Kills Four Soldiers, Injures 61

According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), four Israeli soldiers lost their lives and 58 others were injured in a drone strike on an army base in northern Israel. The attack, which was claimed by Hezbollah, targeted an IDF training facility near Binyamina, approximately 20 miles south of Haifa.

The IDF reported that seven of the injured soldiers are in critical condition following the strike, which Hezbollah stated was a response to Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon and Beirut the previous Thursday.

Hezbollah’s media office indicated that the group employed a “swarm of drones” to carry out the assault on the Golani Brigade camp, marking one of the most significant attacks on an Israeli military site in over a year.

Initially, Israel’s ambulance service, Magen David Adom (MDA), reported that 61 individuals were injured, including three in critical condition. Of those injured, 37 were taken to regional hospitals via ambulance and helicopter. There were some inconsistencies between the MDA and IDF regarding the number of critical injuries.

Social media images appear to depict a damaged mess hall with a hole in the roof, indicating that the attack may have caught many by surprise, as many of the injured were reportedly in a communal canteen at the time.

Emergency services, including helicopters, worked throughout the evening to transport the wounded to hospitals in Hadera, Tel Hashomer, Haifa, Afula, and Netanya.

Initially, Israeli media refrained from disclosing the attack’s location due to censorship regulations, but the IDF later confirmed it took place at the Binyamina base. Reports suggest that the drones used were relatively low-tech and did not activate Israel’s early-warning systems.
