Gallant, Netanyahu Clash Over ‘Where To Stop’ In Israel’s Wars

Gallant stated that Israel must make concessions and that it must better define the war’s objectives due to open disagreements between the defense minister and prime minister.

Prior to Israel’s attack on Iran, Gallant wrote that Israel’s objectives were unclear.

Channel 13 and the Haaretz newspaper report that he also requested an update to Israel’s war goals.

Naturally, Netanyahu responded by stating that the goals were very clear and that the letter was confusing.

The fundamentals are not the subject of these disagreements. When it comes to waging war on Gaza or even the assault on Lebanon, neither Gallant nor Netanyahu really disagree. Where to draw the line is the point of contention.

In addition, Gallant is expressing the sentiments of the captives’ families by suggesting that a ceasefire might be possible now.

In his speeches, particularly at the October 7 memorial, he indicated this by stating that Hamas and Hezbollah have lost a lot of members, their capabilities have deteriorated, and the time has come to reach a political solution.

However, there are currently no signs that Netanyahu has altered his mind or is committed to reaching that agreement.

Additionally, the delegation that traveled to Doha reportedly lacked permission to make any concessions.
