Defence Minister Tackles Amaechi For Asking Nigerians To Protest Hardship

Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, has criticized recent comments made by Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of inciting violence and unrest among Nigerians. Amaechi suggested that citizens should protest against the hardships they are facing in the country.

In a statement released by Henshaw Ogubike, the Director of Information in the Ministry of Defence, which was shared with DAILY POST on Saturday, Matawalle issued a strong warning to the former Minister of Transport, urging him to refrain from making provocative statements that could jeopardize the nation’s peace and stability.

Matawalle expressed serious concern about the risks associated with such rhetoric, stating, “It is both reckless and irresponsible for a former public servant of Amaechi’s stature to incite Nigerians against their own government.” He emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is diligently working to tackle the nation’s challenges through various reforms that are beginning to show positive results.

He further remarked, “It is absurd, preposterous, and shameful for anyone to take advantage of the genuine struggles of our citizens for selfish political purposes.” The minister reaffirmed President Tinubu’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians, warning that any efforts to destabilize the country through incitement would not be tolerated.

“We will not permit anyone to incite violence or exploit the current situation of our people. Let this serve as a final warning to Amaechi and his associates,” Matawalle declared firmly. He also expressed disappointment that instead of collaborating with the government to advance the country, Amaechi has chosen to make narrow-minded claims.
