Beirut Pummeled By 30 Israeli Overnight Strikes

Lebanese media and officials have reported that over 30 airstrikes targeted Hezbollah’s stronghold suburb of Dahiya in southern Beirut overnight into Sunday.

During these attacks, a fuel storage facility was set ablaze, resulting in a significant explosion. This latest series of airstrikes is part of an ongoing bombing campaign that began on Thursday, with new strikes occurring approximately every six hours. Another major airstrike struck Dahiya early Sunday morning.

These overnight strikes were the most extensive since Thursday, when Israel attempted to assassinate Hashem Safieddine, the head of Hezbollah’s executive council and a potential successor to the late leader Hassan Nasrallah, who died in an airstrike in Dahiya on September 27. It remains uncertain if Safieddine was killed in the Thursday attack, as multiple Lebanese sources have indicated he has been unreachable since then.

The intensity of Israel’s airstrikes in southern Lebanon surpasses that in the capital.
