APC Fires Back At Amaechi For ‘Inciting Youths To Protest’ Over Cost Of Living

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized former Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi for his remarks about Nigerian youth not protesting against the “high cost of living” in the country.

In a statement released on Friday by National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, the APC described Amaechi’s comments as insensitive, outrageous, and unpatriotic, especially considering his long history in politics as a two-term Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, a two-term Governor, and a two-term Minister of Transport.

Morka stated that from the comfort of his privileged position, Amaechi recently criticized Nigerian youth for not protesting the high cost of living, which he found disturbing.

He accused Amaechi of being a lifelong beneficiary of state resources and a key player in the economic decline of the country.

Morka argued that Amaechi’s attempts to manipulate public sentiment with false empathy and incitement to violence are hypocritical and dangerous.

He questioned how, if Amaechi claims that those in power are “stealing money,” he is unable to afford basic necessities like diesel after over 24 years in power.

Morka suggested that the real frustration for Amaechi and other critics like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso stems from not being in government, a situation determined by the electorate.

The APC urged Nigerians to ignore Amaechi’s calls for chaos and to remain patient while supporting President Tinubu’s efforts to revitalize the economy.
