Today’s Headlines: Bandits kill 1, Injure scores, Kidnap 18 In Niger, We’re Tired Of Open Grazing – Miyetti Allah & Others

Armed bandits have struck a local community in Niger State, killing one person and injuring several others in their latest attack.

This time around, the bandits invaded Kapana Community in Munya Local Government Area where they also abducted eighteen people.

The bandits were said to have stormed the Community Tuesday night and in their usual style, started shooting sporadically to scare the villagers.

The villagers who were caught unaware scramble for safety during which one of them was felled by the bullet and several others injured.

We’re Tired Of Open Grazing —Miyetti Allah:

Miyetti Allah Breeders Association of Nigeria says it is tired of open grazing in Ondo State, calling on government to make provision for ranches as a way of putting an end to frequent herdsmen/farmers’ crises.

The Chairman of the association in the state, Alhaji Bello Garba, stated this on Wednesday in Akure.

Garba was speaking during a public hearing on a bill to regulate rearing and grazing of livestock and provide for the establishment of ranches and other related matters. He said that the association would support any peaceful move to address the issue in the state, adding that farmers and herdsmen must carry out their respective activities without clashing.

Police Recover Human Skull, Body Iarts In Delta Bush:

Police in the Delta State Command has recovered a human skull and other body parts in a bush near Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the recovery in a statement late Wednesday, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ari Muhammed Ali, said the human skull and other body parts were contained in a baco bag.

The police had last month, arrested five members of a deadly kidnap gang who specialised in selling of victims’ body parts to ritualists.

937 Killed, 1,972 Kidnapped In Kaduna In 2020 – Report:

No fewer than 937 persons died and another 1,972 abducted by bandits in 2020 in Kaduna State.

Kaduna Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs stated this on Wednesday during presentation of the 2020 security report to Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The report, which indicated 7,195 cattle were rustled across within the period under review, showed Kaduna Central senatorial zone top the death toll with 617.
