The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has finally spoken out against the constant violence happening in Plateau State. After deadly attacks on communities like Ruwi, Manguna, Daffo, Josho, and Hurti in Bokkos Local Government Area, the Forum—led by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya—has promised to stop the killings.
“We can’t just sit and watch our people die every day. This has to end!” Yahaya said.
In a serious and emotional message shared by his spokesperson, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Yahaya said the violence is a big danger to peace and unity in the region.
“Human life is valuable and must be protected. These brutal attacks on innocent people are wrong and should be condemned by everyone,” he added.
The Forum showed support for Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and praised how quickly he acted by bringing in security forces. Yahaya said those steps helped calm things down—but more still needs to be done.
“Sympathy isn’t enough. We need real action!”
The Situation is Getting Worse
Killings in Northern Nigeria, especially in rural areas, are causing concern across the country and around the world. In Bokkos alone, 52 people have been killed, many injured, and thousands forced to leave their homes.
Even though security forces have tried to help, armed attackers—believed to be bandits or herders—keep causing chaos. Peace in rural Northern Nigeria remains very shaky.
Are the Northern Governors Serious This Time?
Governor Yahaya said the NSGF now sees insecurity as a serious issue, not just something normal. He promised stronger teamwork among governors, more talks between communities, and long-term peace plans.
But many Nigerians are asking: “We’ve heard all this before—what’s really different now?”
Everyone Must Help
Yahaya called on traditional leaders, religious groups, and civil society organizations to join efforts for peace. He said the government can’t fix this problem alone—it needs everyone’s support.
“Without peace, we can’t grow. Without unity, there’s no future,” he said strongly.
Looking at the Bigger Picture
President Bola Tinubu has ordered that the killers be caught and punished. National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu also warned that the violence must stop.
But many Nigerians are unsure. Will these promises finally lead to change—or will things just stay the same?
