Sabeel Basheer, a 16-year-old inventor from Dubai, developed a life-saving device after going through a tragic loss. In 2019, his close friend, Mohammed Farhan Faisal, died after being left behind in a school bus. This devastating event motivated Sabeel to create a solution to stop such incidents from happening again.
In 2020, he designed the “Smart Vigilant System,” which uses smart sensors to check if a child is still in a school bus. If someone is detected, the system sends out an alert within 30 seconds so help can arrive quickly. The invention brings safety and reassurance to families and schools.
Because of this important contribution, Sabeel was awarded the UAE Golden Visa in May 2022. His invention is now being mass-produced in India, China, and Taiwan, with plans to install it in school buses across the UAE. His work shows how personal pain can lead to meaningful innovation that protects lives.
