Zainab Adefowora, a young woman from Nigeria, has sadly died due to complications from an ear issue that had previously left her confined to a wheelchair, despite undergoing surgery that cost over ₦2 million just weeks earlier.
Zainab had openly discussed her health challenges on X (formerly Twitter), where she often provided updates about her worsening condition. In one post, she expressed her distress, stating, “Ear problems can be so disturbing and life-threatening for real.”
As her health deteriorated, she sought medical assistance but encountered significant financial difficulties. In an urgent appeal for support, she shared, “Please, guys, I need every single donation. The pus in my ear needs to be removed immediately. My facial deviation is returning, and I’m experiencing dizziness and severe headaches.”
She later mentioned that all non-surgical treatments had been exhausted, making surgery necessary, with associated costs reaching ₦600,000 for the operation and a blood transfusion.
Following the surgery, Zainab faced additional complications, which impacted her mobility. In a deeply emotional message, she expressed, “If there was a way I could take my life, I would have done it on December 9. I’m tired. I want to give up. But there’s still hope after the surgery. I can’t even walk properly anymore 😭😭.”
Tragically, just a few weeks later, news of her passing emerged online. A friend mourned her loss, remarking, “From an ear problem to being in a wheelchair. Now she’s gone. This one pain me.”
