Prominent Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has been deported from Saudi Arabia and barred from participating in the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
The respected scholar confirmed the incident on Monday through a post shared on his verified Facebook page. According to Gumi, Saudi authorities denied him entry upon arrival and subsequently put him on a return flight. He did not state the reason behind the deportation but expressed shock over the action, noting that he had fulfilled all necessary requirements for the pilgrimage.
