According Al Jazeera, the media unit of the military, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has confirmed that Pakistan has officially carried out retaliatory attacks against what it described as “Indian aggression”, under the codename Operation Bunyan Marsoos.
According to military sources, Pakistan struck an airbase in the Indian city of Udhampur and another airfield located in Pathankot. Both facilities were reportedly “completely destroyed”.
Security officials also disclosed that a BrahMos missile storage facility in Beas, situated in India’s Punjab state, was targeted during the operation.
Meanwhile, a Pakistani news channel, Samaa TV, quoting security sources, reported that the Indian Army has cancelled a scheduled press briefing in response to the attacks, with some personnel allegedly taking cover in underground bunkers.
The same report indicated that Pakistan launched at least three “Fatah 2” missiles towards Indian targets.
Meaning of Pakistan’s Operation Bunyan Marsoos
The name of Pakistan’s military operation against India is drawn from a verse in the Holy Qur’an which states: Indeed, Allah loves those who fight in His cause as one united force, like a solidly built structure.
The Arabic term Bunyan Marsoos literally means “a structure made of lead”.
In the context of the Qur’an, the phrase symbolises the unity and strength of believers fighting for the cause of Allah, standing together as one firm and unbreakable body.
