Northern Elders Show Concern Over Dangote, Rabiu Fight

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) is worried about the conflict between well-known businessmen from the Northern region, namely Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Abdussamad Rabiu from BUA Company.

NEF expressed concern about the division between Bello Matawalle, the ex-governor of Zamfara State, and his successor, Governor Dauda Lawal.

According to Prof. Ango Abdullahi, the Convener of NEF, the region’s economic and political stability has been impacted by this situation. According to a statement, there is an ongoing dispute between Aliko Dangote and Abdussamad Isiyaku Rabiu regarding cement prices.

Additionally, there is a conflict of interest between Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamafara State and Defense Minister Bello Mohammed Matawalle. These conflicts are worsening the difficulties faced by the Northern region in terms of security and the economy.

“Given this situation, the NEF urges the leaders engaged in the disputes to exhibit self-control for the benefit of the area. We also urge all leaders and those involved in the North to intervene by organizing a meeting to reconcile all parties.

It is crucial, particularly for the two leaders of Zamfara, Lawal and Matawalle, to show restraint and maturity while fostering a sense of togetherness and cooperation in tackling the overwhelming insecurity in the state.”
