Nnamdi Kanu Marks Five Years Anniversary Of Parents’ Death

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, observed the fifth anniversary of his parents’ passing on Friday February 14, 2025.
It was alleged that his parents had succumbed to injuries sustained during a military operation by the Nigerian Army in September 2017, after troops raided their home in Afaraukwu, Abia State.
The attack resulted in the destruction of Kanu’s father’s palace, severe injuries to his parents, and casualties among the community members.
Despite the passage of over two years, Kanu’s parents passed away in February 2020. Kanu commemorated their deaths on Friday while being held in DSS custody since his re-arrest and extradition from Kenya in June 2021.
