Kano Pillars whose struggling to win this year’s Nigeria Premier League suffered a huge setback after it was beaten by Sunshine Stars 1-0 on Sunday in Week 32.
Sunshine scored the only goal through Sad’eeq Yusuf Ahmat, after they advanced to the second round.
With that result, the Pillars moved up to fourth in the Premier League table with 55 points, the same as third-placed Rivers United, who beat Warri Wolves 2-1 on Sunday.
Nasarawa United, who lost 2-1 at home to Ifeanyi Ubah, are in second place with 55 points, the same as Rivers United and Pillars.
Akwa United beat Enyimba International 1-0 at home to move five points clear at second, third and fourth.
