Israeli Air Strike In Lebanon Kills Hezbollah Spokesman, Mohammad Afif

An Israeli airstrike on a building in central Beirut has resulted in the death of Hezbollah spokesman Mohammad Afif, as reported by officials from the Lebanese militant group. The strike, which occurred in the crowded Ras al-Nabaa area of the Lebanese capital, also left three others injured. Officials stated that the building was hit without prior warning, and many Lebanese who had fled from ongoing Israeli attacks in Beirut’s southern suburbs had sought refuge in the area.

The Israeli military had not issued any evacuation orders for the region before the fatal strike, according to their social media account on X.

Al Jazeera’s Dorsa Jabbari commented, “This clearly reflects Israel’s ongoing strategy to target not just Hezbollah’s military faction but also its administrative officials. Israel aims to weaken the group’s capabilities across all sectors: economic, social, political, and military.”

Afif had previously managed Hezbollah’s Al-Manar television station for several years before becoming the group’s chief media relations officer. He had conducted multiple press conferences amidst the destruction in the southern suburbs of the capital, which have been heavily impacted by weeks of Israeli airstrikes.
