Inside Life of Joseph Boakai: A Biography Of A Respected Statesman

Joseph Nyumah Boakai is a Liberian politician who is the president-elect of Liberia after winning the 2023 general election.

Joseph Boakai was born on 30 November 1944 in the distant village of Worsonga, located in Foya District, Lofa County. “Boakai serves as a deacon at the Effort Baptist Church.”

He is in matrimony with Kartumu Boakai, with whom he has four offspring.

“He possesses extensive political expertise, having been involved in the political arena of Liberia for forty years.”

From 2006 until 2018, he held the position of the 29th vice president of Liberia under President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

From 1983 to 1985, he held the position of Minister of Agriculture during President Samuel Doe’s administration. In 2017, he competed in the presidential race but was defeated by George Weah.
