INEC Declares Lucky Aiyedatiwa Winner Of Ondo Guber Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the governorship election held on Saturday in Ondo State. Aiyedatiwa secured the victory by receiving the most votes in the election.

The current governor faced competition from Ajayi Agboola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olorunfemi Festus of the Labour Party (LP), and Abbas Mimiko of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), among others, during the election.

While revealing the results in Akure, the state capital, INEC’s Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Lokoja, Prof. Akinwumi Olayemi Durotimi, stated that Aiyedatiwa received a total of 366,781 votes, while Ajayi garnered 117,845 votes and the Labour Party received 1,162 votes.

He declared, “Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of the APC, having met the legal requirements and obtained the highest number of valid votes cast, is hereby declared elected.”

Aiyedatiwa, who took over from the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on December 27, 2023, hails from the Ilaje Local Government Area in the southern senatorial district of the state.
