Former Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barrister Hudu Ari, has reaffirmed his assertion that Senator Aisha Binani, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 2023 gubernatorial election, was the legitimate victor of the election. During a press conference at his home in Bauchi State on Saturday, Ari declared, swearing by God, that his actions were grounded in truth and evidence.
He claimed to have documentary evidence proving that Binani outperformed the current governor, Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ari, who was suspended in 2023 and officially dismissed last week after receiving approval from the National Assembly, expressed his disappointment that his evidence of electoral misconduct was overlooked by both the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Adamawa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
While holding a copy of the Qur’an during the press conference, he asserted that his actions were taken in good faith and in accordance with electoral regulations.
He alleged that he and other electoral officials faced pressure to declare Governor Fintiri the winner due to threats to their personal safety.
