After spending 45 years devoted to the Church, Australian priest Gould David made a life-changing decision to embrace Islam, adopting the name Abdul Rahman.
His path to Islam began unexpectedly during a visit to Perth for his brother-in-law’s funeral. While in the city, he happened to book a hotel just 150 meters from Perth’s central mosque.
Curious and drawn to the mosque, he decided to visit, where he met an imam who gifted him a copy of the Quran.
Sharing his experience on The Deen Show, David recalled, “For years, I had a Quran on my bookshelf but barely touched it. This time, I went back to my hotel, knelt in prayer, and asked God to guide me to the absolute truth—whether Islam was true, whether Christianity was right or wrong, or whether Orthodox Christianity was correct. I prayed for a few moments on my knees.”
He further explained, “I kneeled and prayed, then sat down and read the Quran. At that moment, I understood—intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually—that this was truly the word of God.”
David’s transformation highlights the profound impact of faith and the pursuit of spiritual truth, resonating with people from various religious backgrounds.
