Han Jong-hee, the co-CEO of Samsung Electronics, has passed away at the age of 63 following a sudden heart attack. Han, who led the company’s Device eXperience (DX) division—encompassing Samsung’s mobile, TV, and home appliance businesses—was instrumental in shaping the company’s global technology strategy.
Han joined Samsung in 1988 and built a distinguished career spanning over three decades. He was widely credited with strengthening Samsung’s dominance in the television industry and steering the company through major technological advancements and market challenges. Under his leadership, Samsung continued to innovate in consumer electronics, solidifying its position as a global leader.
His passing comes just a week after he presided over Samsung’s annual shareholder meeting, demonstrating his continued commitment to the company until his final days. With his death, Samsung’s remaining co-CEO, Jun Young-hyun, is expected to take on full leadership responsibilities as the company navigates this unexpected transition.
