Disarm Hezbollah, Others ‘As Soon As Possible’ – US Envoy To Lebanese Govt

U.S. envoy Morgan Ortagus spoke to Lebanese TV channel LBCI after a three-day trip to Beirut, where she met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, and other leaders.
Ortagus said that Hezbollah and other armed groups need to be disarmed quickly, and that the Lebanese army is expected to handle it.
“Hezbollah must give up its weapons, and Israel won’t tolerate attacks from terrorists,” she said. “We understand that view.”
She also said the U.S. keeps urging the Lebanese government to fully follow the agreement to stop fighting, which includes taking weapons away from Hezbollah and all militias.
When asked if the U.S. had set a deadline for this, she answered, “As soon as possible.”
