The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 146 million people die each year in Africa as a result of direct or indirect exposure to cigarette smokes.

In a video conference last week, WHO Director-General for Africa, Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, reiterated the warning that smoking kills all vital organs.

Dr Moeti also said that a recent study had found that more than 1.2 million people had died as a result of smoke-related illnesses.
